🛻 Falling Out of My Trailer (A Lesson in Trucker Parkour)

There I was, parked between two trailers, trying to close up after sweeping mine out. Normally, I shut the left door, use it for leverage, and shimmy my way inside to sweep. But this time, I couldn’t get that left door shut. Both doors had to stay open, which threw off my usual routine.
There are handles and a few steps along the right side, so I climbed in that way, got the floor nice and clean, and it was time to hop back out. I grabbed the right-side handle with my right hand and started to step down. My left hand didn’t have anything to hold on to, and that’s where things went sideways—literally.
Next thing I know, I’m swinging out of the trailer like I’m doing some kind of parkour routine. My grip gave way, and I landed right on my elbow and my hindquarters. It startled me, but I was fine. I jumped up quick, hoping nobody saw me make my grand exit.
My knee and backside were a little sore, but I got the trailer shut properly and moved on to my next load. Later that day, while driving, I started laughing about it. I called my wife and told her I’d invented a new sport—Trucker Parkour.
She laughed, too. Just another day on the road.
💭 Reflection
Sometimes, the road throws you a little surprise just to keep you humble. Whether it’s a missed handle or a slick step, there’s always a story waiting to happen. And hey — if you can laugh about it later, you’re doing all right.
